Incidence of breast cancer rises dramatically after age 50, and therefore conducting research that examines epigenetic factors, such as nutritional status and polymorphisms in DNA repairs genes associated with breast cancer risk may reduce morbidity and mortality in this population.

Campus Suicide Prevention Program

The Department of Health and Human Services - SAMHSA has awarded $75,000 to CSUF in support of the Campus Suicide Prevention Program under the direction of Mary Hermann.

The project will focus on establishing a Crisis Response Team and protocol to better assist the campus community to respond to a suicide or suicide attempt. The project will focus on reducing the stigma to receiving treatment for mental health conditions. This will be accomplished by conducting a social marketing campaign, targeting multicultural and ethnic populations, as these student groups are less likely to seek treatment for mental health conditions
